In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to create a character turnaround using Scenario’s Flux model. The character turnaround helps visualize different angles of a character, which is particularly useful for concept artists and game designers. Here's a step-by-step guide:
In your Scenario dashboard, go to Images > New and select a Flux model for your generation. Prefer models designed for character creation to ensure greater control and quality in your results.
In the Reference Image section, upload or choose from your library an image representing the turnaround format you wish to create. This reference image will help guide the model in understanding the structure and format of the character’s different angles.
Select ControlNet - Pose to ensure the model accurately captures the character’s posture and angles. Keep in mind that Pose mode is more effective at recognizing poses with realistic or human-like proportions, and may struggle with cartoonish or highly stylized character proportions.
Craft a detailed prompt that includes three key sections: Style (if applicable), Character Description, and a Technical Description to guide the spritesheet creation.
For example:
This approach encourages creativity and flexibility, allowing for adjustments to achieve the most precise and compelling character design. The format provided above is just a suggestion—feel free to improve and refine the prompt as needed.
Click Generate to create the images.
Depending on the results, you can increase pose consistency by raising the reference image influence. Additionally, you can boost the Guidance value to give the prompt a stronger impact on the final output.
After selecting the best results, refine the image by using it as a reference. To do this, select the image and click "Use as Reference" in the upper-left corner.
This approach reinforces the model's style while enhancing the overall quality of the character, with a particular focus on improving facial details, as shown in the image below:
The Canvas is ideal for adding final touches and fine-tuning your image to achieve perfection. Select your image, go to the top menu, and choose "Edit Details." Now, you can refine the image using masking and inpainting tools. Be sure to check out the "Introduction to Canvas" video for a complete guide.
Below is a comparison of the image before and after the Canvas adjustments.
Use Scenario Enhance to further polish your image. Select the style and choose between 2x up to 16x upscaling with the Precise presets or high Image Fidelity settings. This will add the finishing touches by increasing resolution and correcting any imperfections.
Keep in mind that the order of the prompt influences the final result, so if you want to emphasize a specific detail, place it at the beginning of the prompt.
Experiment with different prompts and reference images to explore a variety of character designs and achieve the best results.
