99math, a startup dedicated to making math fun, recently adopted Scenario, an AI toolkit designed for gaming. With Scenario, they introduced in-game pets to boost player engagement and retention while making math learning more enjoyable.
After integrating pet companions into their game six months ago, 99math saw a significant rise in engagement. However, they wanted to expand this feature by allowing pets to evolve through levels, deepening player involvement. The challenge was creating a consistent and scalable system for pet evolution with limited art resources.
99math used Scenario’s user-friendly, prompt-based tools to quickly create new pets without needing extensive AI expertise. Working closely with Scenario’s team, they trained models using their existing pet designs. Scenario’s sketch tool allowed them to easily add new features and colors, ensuring visual consistency as pets evolved from one stage to the next. In just a short time, they generated 40 production-ready pets, complete with evolving attributes for each level.
Previously, relying on freelancers slowed down production and made it difficult to maintain a consistent art style. Scenario solved these issues by enabling 99math to create pets in-house, saving them an estimated three months of work and ensuring the consistency they needed for their evolving pet system.
All 40 pets are now live in the game, with players excitedly collecting and leveling up their companions. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with pets adding a new layer of fun and engagement to the math-learning experience.
With Scenario, 99math has transformed their game development process. The AI-driven tools allowed them to create high-quality content faster, empowering them to innovate and keep kids excited about math.
