Ubisoft expanded its innovative reach with Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., a PC-based isometric shooter inspired by the Netflix anime series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. The game immerses players in high-stakes battles within the dystopian realm of Eden, where they compete to become the ultimate Niji Warrior.
To enrich the game’s universe, Ubisoft partnered with Scenario to create the Niji Warriors, characters designed using AI-driven tools. Unlike traditional procedural design, Scenario’s AI allowed for more dynamic and intricate variations, maintaining artistic consistency while introducing fresh character designs.
Ubisoft introduced the Niji Warrior ID Card collection, 10,000 personalized game items that evolve based on in-game achievements. These items grant players exclusive privileges, such as influencing game development, unlocking premium content, and customizing avatars. The interactive event launched in December 2024 encouraged creativity and deepened player immersion.
“We’re proud to partner with Ubisoft on Captain Laserhawk. Scenario’s AI tools enable scalable, instant player customization while preserving the game’s style and vision.”
– Emmanuel de Maistre, CEO @ Scenario
Ubisoft’s creative team designed 20 original Niji Warriors, which were used to train Scenario’s AI models. These models generated thousands of unique variations while ensuring consistency with the game's aesthetic. The design process followed strict specifications, such as:
Using prompts like “pixel art, warrior, vibrant colors,” Scenario’s AI generated multiple iterations, which were refined through an iterative review process.
The final Niji Warriors were revealed through an interactive Photobooth, where players could customize their characters by selecting attributes like:
This player-driven approach ensured each Niji Warrior was unique and personal.
Ubisoft used Scenario’s platform to generate thousands of personalized avatars while preserving visual integrity. Scenario’s model training, batch generation, and style consistency tools ensured high-quality character design. Filters were applied to maintain Ubisoft’s creative and quality standards.
After training the models and launching the servers, Ubisoft pioneered a viral, global product launch that onboarded tens of thousands of players. Without Scenario’s custom models, this achievement would not have been possible.
According to OpenSea metrics, the assets have already traded for over $80,000, proving the potential for future collections to further expand the Captain Laserhawk universe.
Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. exemplifies Ubisoft's commitment to innovation. Through strategic partnerships, Ubisoft pushes the boundaries of interactive entertainment, while Scenario enables game studios to scale faster and deliver unparalleled artistic visions. The Niji Warriors highlight the power of combining human creativity with AI, setting a new standard for player-driven engagement.
